Planet of Vampires Issue #1 is the debut issue of one of the most distinctive science fiction horror titles published by Atlas Comics during their brief but memorable 1974–1975 publishing run. Released in February 1975, this first issue combines classic space adventure with vampire horror, creating one of the more unusual and sought-after concepts from the Bronze Age independent comic scene.
The striking cover artwork features armed astronauts battling for survival in a devastated future Earth overrun by vampires, accompanied by the memorable cover blurb: “Six astronauts return to Earth and find it ruled by vampires!” The mix of post-apocalyptic science fiction and horror themes made the series stand out from its contemporaries and has helped it gain a cult following among collectors of obscure Bronze Age comics.
