Description

Morlock 2001 Issue #1 is the debut appearance of one of the most unusual and memorable characters from the short-lived Atlas Comics publishing line. Released in February 1975, the series was promoted as featuring “The World’s Strangest Super-Hero” and formed part of Atlas/Seaboard’s ambitious attempt to compete with Marvel and DC during the Bronze Age of comics.

This first issue features striking cover artwork by Pablo Marcos, with inks by Dick Giordano, depicting Morlock battling a grotesque alien creature while attempting to rescue a captive heroine. The bizarre science-fiction themes and distinctive artwork perfectly capture the experimental spirit of mid-1970s comic publishing and have helped the title develop a loyal following among collectors of obscure Bronze Age books.

As a first issue from the Atlas Comics line, Morlock 2001 #1 remains an increasingly collectible piece of comic history, particularly for enthusiasts of short-run publishers and unusual superhero concepts that never received long-running series treatment.

An excellent addition for collectors of Atlas Comics, Bronze Age first issues and rare 1970s independent superhero titles.
