Description
Police Action Featuring Lomax #2, published by Atlas Comics in April 1975, featuring hard-hitting crime stories centred around NYPD detective Lomax and backup feature character Luke Malone, Manhunter. Produced during Atlas Comics’ brief but ambitious mid-1970s publishing run, the series offered a gritty alternative to the dominant superhero titles of the era.
This second issue features a dynamic action cover packed with classic 1970s crime comic energy, including police action, armed criminals and a dramatic city confrontation. The cover proudly carries the “All New – No Reprint” banner that appeared across many Atlas releases and highlights the publisher’s attempt to establish an original line of titles during the Bronze Age of comics.
Atlas Comics operated for only a short period, making many of its titles significantly scarcer than comparable Marvel and DC releases from the same era. Crime and police-themed comics from the publisher are particularly sought after by collectors of unusual Bronze Age material and independent comic history.
